The Women Environmental Programme (WEP), under the GIZ-led Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change (HMCCC) Programme, is calling for applications to its Women's Fellowship on Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change.
This regional leadership programme empowers young women across the ECOWAS region to lead gender-responsive solutions to climate-induced human mobility challenges. The fellowship is funded by GIZ, co-financed by the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), and commissioned by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Major Considerations
- This fellowship explicitly requires applicants to already have a project idea or ongoing initiative, not just interest in the topic. The Project Proposal (up to 3 pages) is likely the most weight-bearing document in the application, so applicants should be ready to describe a concrete, specific initiative rather than a general area of interest.
- Since this fellowship runs alongside a separate Call for Mentors (same organization, same deadline), applicants should be clear they're applying for the right one, this is for the fellows themselves (18-35, seeking mentorship and funding), not for the mentors (5-10+ years experience, providing mentorship).
Should You Apply?
A strong fit for young women (18-35) in the ECOWAS region already engaged in community work, research, or advocacy related to climate, migration, or gender, especially those with a specific project they want to develop further. Less suited for those without any existing initiative or leadership experience in this space, since the application requires a concrete proposal, not just a general interest in the topic.
